How To Use The Reader
The Reader is an RSS news reader. RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication and is basically a specially formatted web page that has news headlines for whatever topic you may be interested in.
First, you need to have the URL (web address) of a published RSS feed. To find RSS feeds, google a phrase like "christian news rss feeds" or "cnn rss feeds." Once you find a source you like, copy the URL by right clicking the link and selecting "Copy Shortcut" or "Copy Link Location." You are looking for a hyperlink or a graphic that says or .
Second, open your Reader and right click on the "My Feeds" folder in the left pane. Select "New Feed." In the message box that opens up, paste the link you copied in the previous step in to the text field and click "Add Feed."
Your new RSS feed can now be accessed by opening the "My Feeds" folder (by clicking the + sign) and clicking on the name of the feed you added.
You can organize your feeds by following the second step above and selecting "New Folder" instead. Name your new folder and then you can add feeds using the same process as you did for the "New Feeds" folder. You can also drag and drop existing feeds into your new folders.
Special tip: If you click on a folder with several feeds in it, the right pane in the Reader will show an aggregate of the headlines from all the feeds in that folder.
